The household hints section of a hundred-year-old cookbook had the following suggestions for getting more juice from a lemon:
-
A lemon will yield nearly double the quantity of juice otherwise obtainable if it is heated thoroughly before squeezing.
-
Lemons held in hot water yield more juice than otherwise.

How very interesting!
It’s fun to read the household tips in old cookbooks.
We used to press roll pressing down hard on the lemon to get more juice.
I was going to mention this as my Top Tip too.
That’s what my daughter always does. She says that you don’t need a lemon squeezer tool if you press down hard on the lemon first.
I pop those little beauties in the microwave for a couple of seconds….Makes it a lot easier to get the juice from those little limes also.
Great suggestion – it’s a more modern way to heat a lemon to get more juice.
Good to know!!
Did you find that to be true about the heated lemons?
I think that I get more juice when I heat a lemon, though am not positive since the amount of juice naturally varies so much from one lemon to the next.
