Amazing that Malt Breakfast Food costs less than a cent a dish in 1924. Last year I posted a similar advertisement that also indicated that Malt Breakfast Food cost less than a cent a dish. It’s good to know the Malt Breakfast Food continued to be a good deal.

When I was a kid, we had Maltex cereal and I recall that we all loved it. Here’s a little information about the company, originally founded here in Vermont a stone’s throw from where I live now: https://homestatfarm.com/pages/maltex-history
Thanks for sharing the link. It’s fascinating to read about the history of Maltex – and really nice to read that the product is still made.
Top ‘o the bottle caught my eye. I am guessing that is referring to when milk used to separate?
Yes, I also think that it probably refers to the cream that floated to the top of the bottle back in the days before milk was homogenized.
My question — if that malt cereal was so marvelously delicious, how come we don’t have it now???
hmm – I wonder if the malt flavor is less popular now than it once was. I know that malted milk balls are still made, but I almost never see anyone eating them.
I eat malted milk balls! Just found them recently in my usual grocery store.
Just thinking about malted milk balls is making hungry for them. I’m going to have to look for them the next time go to the store.
Interesting how “Mother” looks more like grandmother. I do look at some of the old family photos, and how many of the mid-age women did look much older in my Grandmothers’ generation.
Our standby by Malt-o-Meal, or occasionally Cream of Wheat.
“Mom” in the drawing looks like she has gray hair. Today many women color their hair. I’m good with gray hair, but maybe a reason she looks older than some mothers today is because she has gray hair.
And here I just finished a bowl of oatmeal this morning…. does that count?
In my opinion, it definitely counts. π
Yes! Malt-o-meal is a favorite here – and I can only imagine it is similar!
Similarly to you, Malt-o-meal is the cereal of this type that I’m familiar with.
Our mum used to give us a spoonful of malt extract every morning. Clearly it was a thing back in the day. not that i’m a hundred years old π
Wow. such an old advertisement. I wonder what they would say if could see the new world.
