Many companies try to fill in that hole during prohibition. Yuengling made ice cream. My grandfather had soda fountains, so it probably helped his business.
It’s fascinating to think about how prohibition was challenging for some companies while it may have benefited others.
And I think it’s still going strong!
π
Somehow, I don’t picture golfers as the “finding joy in every drop of grape juice” type. π€
Really? π Somehow I don’t picture it either.
Ah, and served in a drug store with bottles that look suspiciously like wine…who could tell the difference?
There definitely are some similarities.
So if there is a “golfing ” thirst….how about a “shopping thirst? Or a house cleaning thirst? Or a kid chasing thirst? I am sure the “ladies” could use something stronger then a cup to tea…. Maybe a little grape juice that had set and fermented for a bit?
It also struck me that only men were shown in the picture – even though I was looking at a “women’s” magazine. Why weren’t women also shown as having a “golfing thirst”?
Hehe! Just open the bottle and let a little air in and soon you will either have wine or vinegar! I can’t say that any men were lining up for (unfermented) grape juice!
You don’t think they were lining up for unfermented grape juice? π Who would have guessed?
Mmmm. yes. That golfing thirst.
