Heinz has advertised for more than a hundred years that it has 57 varieties. I’ve heard that 57 is a made up number and that Heinz has many more than 57 varieties, but a 1924 advertisement lists 57 varieties, so maybe they actually had that number back then.
Interesting. I wonder how many of those products still are being made.
When I shop I don’t remember ever seeing many of the Heinz products on the list. That said, I don’t really pay much attention to foods that I’m not considering purchasing, so there may be many more Heinz products than what I’ve noticed.
It’s interesting that they had a vegetarian baked beans back then. Heinz chili sauce still is a staple in my pantry; I use it in several dishes.
There are been vegetarians for a long time. I’ve seen articles in hundred-year-old magazines and cookbooks about vegetarian diets.
An interesting fact is that Heinz worked on getting the pure food and drug act passed.
A hundred years ago there was a lot of interest in ensuring that foods were unadulterated.

I’m sure that you’re right. Products with little demand are discontinued, while companies are always trying to develop the next hit.
I see it did lts of jams and preserves. Those have gone for sure. In England at least.
Similarly, I don’t think that I’ve seen any Heinz jams or preserves at the stores where I shop.
