Hot mulled cider makes a delightful holiday drink. I found an easy and tasty mulled cider recipe in a hundred-year-old cookbook.
Here’s the original recipe:

Here’s the recipe updated for modern cooks:
Mulled Cider
1 quart cider
4 tablespoons sugar
1 cinnamon stick
1 tablespoon whole cloves
Put cider and sugar in a large saucepan. Add cinnamon stick and cloves tied into a cheesecloth bag. Bring to a boil using medium heat; reduce heat to low. Remove cinnamon and cloves before serving. Serve hot.
I can almost smell it simmering.
It has a lovely warm and fruity aroma.
Merry Christmas!
Thank you.
A nice warm winter drink.
It’s perfect for cold winter days.
Sounds good, and I love the mug!
It’s tasty. I also like the mug. I gave it to my husband for Christmas a year or two ago.
Always a delight!
Definitely- it’s yummy.
When the instant spiced cider came out years ago I tried it. Then I tossed the unused packets. nothing is as good as the real thing and it is easy!!
How true – instant spiced cider isn’t even close to being the same as the real thing.
I find the instant versions to be far too sweet.
Agree!
A lovely find! Sounds warm and delicious. The perfect drink for a winter evening.
Hot chocolate is perfect for winter evenings, and for after outdoor activities on cold days.
