Those were good ideas as we can get updated ones today.
Good point – updated versions of these items still make good gifts.
I would enjoy all of those! No babies here now, but that set is such a good idea! Cold gruel is the worst ; )
Kits would have loved the Mother Goose Cereal set. It is so sweet.
I have a small collection of Homer Laughlin syrup and batter pitcher sets, c. 1926-1930. Originally, they all had lids. I finally culled my little group and got rid of all those without lids. They were produced in other shapes, too. Apparently the concept really caught on with the public.
I love your pitchers. I had never heard of these sets until I did this post.
The sets came with a platter for the pancakes, but I never collected those.
These sets must have made a meal of pancakes seem really special.
I cringe to think how much electricity those appliances took!
And, I thought about how rapidly homes apparently were getting electricity in the 1920s. I don’t think that electric appliances were featured nearly as much in the old magazines a few year earlier.
It was the future to them!
I used an electric toaster like that when I was a child! My grandmother had it in the table when I spent the night with her.
Wow, I don’t think that I’ve ever seen a toaster like the one in the picture. It’s nice to hear that this post brought back some good memories.
A friend’s granny had a toaster just like that in use till the day she died. It was quite fun to sit at table and grill toast like that.
It’s sounds like a lot of fun. The toaster in the picture sure looks different from modern toasters.
It was a work of dedication to get your morning toast!
What a fun post!
It’s nice to hear that you enjoyed this post.
I did, Sheryl–thank you for continuing these interesting items from the past.
