Class Colors

We chose our class colors this week. Think it was last Wed. They are maroon and gold. They don’t suit me very well. I preferred to have green and white, but didn’t get them.

Her middle-aged granddaughter’s comments 100 years later:

It’s too bad that Grandma wasn’t able to convince her classmates that green and white would be better class colors. . .though two schools that I attended had maroon and gold (or orange) as their school colors so I have somewhat of a personal affinity for the maroon and gold.

Now that I think about it, I don’t think that we had class colors—just school colors. Does anyplace still have class colors?

  1. We just used the school colors of Blue and White.

  2. We chose class colors when I was in school in the 1960’s. I think we did that because our school colors were orange and white. So our class sweaters and winter jackets were royal blue and white. I still have my sweater. Here in Florida the kids just buy a sweat shirt hoodie with the school colors and name on it from Walmart.

  3. Our school colors were orange/black/white. I still have a hoodie windbreaker but it’s pretty small (we thought we needed to diet then LOL). The Maroon and gold sounds pretty regal and probably popular in the day.

  4. I actually have never heard of class colors, just school colors which were black and gold. At my school, we did have a class motto or quote, which was voted upon (I believe), and was featured on the graduating class year book. :)

  5. my school colours for high school and university were purple and gold– weird, eh>?

  6. When i was in school we had house colours which effectively split the school into five groups across the ages for sporting events or other certain things.

  7. I have never heard of class colors. That’s interesting.

  8. Blue and white for both high school and college.

  9. I forget whether they were blue and white or blue and gold. But it was the school colors and usually worn by the sports teams and the band etc. We never had a class motto or anything like that…

  10. What will Grandma do with the pocket knife she found? Will she try to locate the owner? Does she have a use for it? Someone’s loss may be her gain. It doesn’t seem too exciting to her that she found it, but I wonder if the owner is bemoaned his loss?

  11. I think we had class colors. But the only thing we used them for was ordering graduation robes and our tassels.

  12. Yep my school, and that of my daughters, had what we called house colours for team sports etc. Class colours, no, but these are much the same I guess.

  13. All I remember are the school colors of maroon and grey. But I wasn’t really paying attention in high school so maybe there were class colors. I could look in my yearbook and see…

  14. [...] A few days previous to this diary entry,  Grandma wrote about the differences in opinion about class colors and now they can’t seem to agree on a class pin. Like this:LikeBe the first to like [...]
