Photo of Jimmie

Jimmie Muffly, circa 1913

Her middle-aged granddaughter’s comments 100 years later:

Since Grandma didn’t write much a hundred years ago today, I’m going to share a recently found photo of her little brother Jimmie.

Is it just me or is he the cutest kid ever?

  1. He’s cute alright Sheryl… no doubt you can’t see it but I believe you and he share an amazing similarity, even down to the slight tilt of the head to the side. So charming :-)

  2. Her entry speaks volumes in 3 little words! And the photo is wonderful ~ pure visual Americana.

  3. An iconic picture of a boy and his dog, Jimmie was a cutie.

  4. A great picture! I’m glad you are sharing better photos of everybody.

  5. Nope…not just you…definitely cute! Love it!

  6. All of the above. Adorable. Americana – the rocker, a boy and his dog, the front porch, shutters on the windows, the overalls, and best of all his proud pose -

  7. No, it’s not just you Sheryl, he looks like a really great “young man”! Didn’t you say he later became a vet? He seems quite happy to let the dog have the rocker for the photo. :)

  8. Well, he certainly looks like he knows what’s important in life! He seems to have a look of someone older than seven. I’ve just recently found some tintypes of my great grandparents from the 1800’s… I know what these photos must mean to you. There’s a wonder about actually seeing someone you’ve only ever heard stories about… seeing them in flesh and blood as if they might visit for tea tomorrow.

  9. A boy and his dog…Cute.

  10. What a fun idea! I have a blog based on my step-father’s World War II journal and photographs. Similar task but yours is involving a more personal past. We have very old family photos but no one left a journal. Great post and site.

    • I stopped by your blog and really enjoyed it. Your step-father had some really interesting photos and other artifacts. Thanks for letting me know about it.

  11. What a wondeful picture! Thanks for sharing.

  12. Such a great boy stance!! and the dog has the same sort “this is our world” look as well!!! Nice!
